our economic infrastructure
The Westside Makerspace cooperative presents a unique vision to build our skilled workforce and create our own economic infrastructure in West Dayton. As one of the first makerspaces in the country with Black founders, we offer an alternative space, culture, and practice for youth and adults in our community to train for in-demand industries and build our own businesses.
in 2021: pilot at the west dayton library
This year, the Makerspace will launch our pilot space in the new West Dayton branch library. We will offer a range of hands-on project-based courses, so that our community can explore and pursue a variety of interests - in manufacturing, building, coding, designing, making, and crafting. We are organizing our neighbors - young and old, retirees from local factories, engineers at the airforce base, and skilled hobbyists - to be our instructors.

together, we will build & innovate
The Makerspace co-op’s founding members include three engineers and a team of makers from West Dayton. We are committed to democratizing access to both low-tech tools and cutting edge technology and training our community in their potential career and business applications as well as their practical uses to address our everyday needs.
In West Dayton we have the talents, skills, and creativity to build and innovate. The Makerspace organizes us around the tools to do that.
